Onyx Brass in Cambridge

I'm pretty excited to hear that Onyx Brass are going to be premiering lots of interesting new brass quintet music in Cambridge on 1st July and Edinburgh on the 10th. It's part of the John Armitag Memorial which basically runs a brass composition competition annually, with people like Eric Crees judging, and Onyx performing the winners.

Onyx Brass are a London based brass quintet which formed from the best crop National Youth Orchestra brass players about 10 years ago, and are well known for playing and commissioning new music. They have a couple of CDs and feature composers like Timothy Jackson, James MacMillan, John White and Michael Nyman.

I've just discovered a hot young Canadian trombone ensemble called "I Tromboni". Loads of cool photos of them in ice hockey shirts and clips of them playing cheesy music rather well!
